Boating shouldn't be hard

Teak and fiberglass seats equal bruised knees and tender tushes. But there is a cure: BottomSiders provide the comfort you want without the nuisance of conventional cushions. No soggy seats, split seams, or stuck zippers.

Manufactured since the early 1980s, our cushions are designed specifically for the marine environment. BottomSiders provide comfort where and when it's needed. Snow storms, rain storms, or the heat of the tropics, they've been through it all. Ask our customers; chances are good you already know one.

Attractive

BottomSiders have a distinctive look that adds a touch of class to your boat. We make them to fit using your pattern or ours. How about personalizing your set with your boat name or logo?

Unique construction

BottomSiders are made using a one piece manufacturing process which coats closed cell foam with several layers of marine grade vinyl. Although not Coast Guard approved flotation devices, our cushions are made of foam which has been given a bouyancy rating by the Coast Guard. BottomSiders float, thus giving you an extra margin of safety for your crew, family, and friends.

  • UV resistant
  • Flexible
  • Durable
  • They float

A distinct advantage

Cushions belong on deck, not below or in a lazarette. BottomSiders can stay there as they do not retain moisture and, because they have no upholstery, there is no place for mold to grow and hide.

  • No seams or zippers
  • Easy to maintain - just hose off

A fit for any and every boat

We carefully maintain a library of patterns for hundreds of boats. However, if we don't have a pattern for your custom, one-off boat we will be happy to email you Patterning Instructions with step-by-step directions on how to make a template of your seating area. You can also order a Patterning Kit complete with instructions -- and materials -- to make a pattern. You'll find the Patterning Kit listed under Accessory Cushions.

Other important information

Attachment options BottomSiders wil remain anchored to your cockpit benches without attachments in many applications and most conditions. If you wish to further secure the cushions we have several options:

Snap tab - 2-1/2" long tabs with embedded snaps. Mounts on the vertical edge and bottom of cushion. Additional lengths also available
Patch Snap - round mesh material with embedded snap for mounting on the bottom of the cushion
Velcro Strap - mesh tabs available in any length with hook and loop closure
All tabs and straps are provided in kit form complete with 3/8" SS stud mounted male snap and glue for field installation.

Radius corners All BottomSiders cushions feature radius corners. The typical size is 1-1/2" but this may vary depending on the application.

Temperature BottomSiders uses the highest available grade of closed-cell foam. We have to, because our cushions aren't hidden by fabric covers. As with all closed-cell foam cushions, you may notice slight expansion and contraction proporationate to changes in temperature. You may also notice slight shrinkage over the life of the cushions. You can mitigate this condition by selecting light colors for warmer climates.
